ESTABLISHED 1967
Founded with a passion for rowing, the Porirua Rowing Club is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community of recreational and competitive rowers.
Our mission is to promote rowing and provide coaching to the community, to encourage physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle,
while simultaneously fostering an appreciation for teamwork, discipline and personal growth through the sport of rowing.
We aim to create a safe space and culture that values inclusivity, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
Porirua Rowing Club
The Porirua Rowing Club is the consequence of sustained efforts by rowing enthusiasts who decided that the community needed a rowing club again, and on June 19, 1967, the club was established. Also in 1967, the club staged its inaugural regatta, the Goodwill, an event which is still on the regatta calendar.
Our boathouse facilities
Work started on our current boatshed, in 1992, next to the original shed and was built and funded by volunteers putting in many years of hard work. Again in 2022. it was volunteers who took on the gym renovation and in 2025 our boathouse was re-clad and re-roofed.

Prizegiving honours those who have excelled, worked hard, and dedicated themselves throughout the season, fostering a sense of pride and motivation.

Our rowers and coaches who have succeeded in the sport of rowing and who have shown exceptional athletic performance, dedication, discipline, and perseverance are recognized on the honor roll. This recognition inspires others, by demonstrating that success is achievable at all levels of competition.
