WHAT IS Adult LEARN TO ROW?

Our Adult Learn to Row program will run over November 2023. This course is an introduction to rowing. You will be taught the basic rowing techniques and how to work as a team to move the boat effectively. You will also improve your general fitness and meet a great bunch of other adults.

We ran two courses last summer and had more than 50 adults through the program. So we are doing another adult learn to row course!

  • No experience necessary
  • Open to anyone 20yrs+
  • Get fit by stealth (it’s fun and you don’t realise you are getting stronger)

HOW LONG?

Session times are:

·       Wednesday 6pm

·       Sundays 10am

This Learn to Row will run from Wednesday 01 Nov to Sunday 26th Nov 2023.

You will get 8 coached sessions! A typical Learn to Row session is usually around 1.5hrs long, which includes 30 mins to get on/off the water and 1 hour on the water.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO CONTINUE?

A lot of people get the rowing bug! It’s social, physical and more challenging than it looks. Have a look at our Facebook and Instagram photos (and under News and Updates on this website) to see the types of things we do, how we run things and the positive culture we set and expect. If you want to continue after the course there are 3 possible pathways:

You want to keep rowing to develop your fitness, enjoy the social vibe and perhaps still come to the training camps and regattas to train or support. (This is where most people start).

You want to row socially and enter a few social regattas.

You are an athlete and want to race at regattas, train frequently and compete at the National Rowing Championships. You may even decide you want to try and get into the new sport of Coastal Rowing! Note our Club is a leader in NZ with this new sport, we have the boats available for you to row in as well and we are hosting the Beach Sprint Coastal Rowing National Championships next May 2024 at Titahi Bay.

The membership application page details costs etc for joining.
