The May 2024 Swift Racing NZ Coastal Rowing Champs was as a major fundraiser and promotional event for our club. This beach sprint championship, held at Titahi Bay, showcased the exciting world of coastal rowing while putting the club in the spotlight. Rowing NZ pulled out all the stops to promote the event, creating a wave of media coverage that included promotional articles, Instagram videos, and a 9-hour YouTube livestream of the action.
The event’s success has opened up new horizons for the club. With stunning weather and keen racing, it not only attracted competitors but also caught the eye of potential new rowers. The club’s new committee is now exploring ways to host more coastal regattas, seeing them as golden opportunities to grow the sport, draw in fresh talent, and boost fundraising efforts.
