Learn to Row

This training program was a great success and lead by Club Captain Jono Debbage and supported by Nick Teare. Both are volunteers, have knowledge and skill and are setting rowers up for the season. A big thanks from us all to you both.

The learn to row program lead to the establishment of a boys and girls novice squad. We also have five rowers who are 12-13yrs old so are in the casual membership category. Just learning, fitting in training with other committments and leaving racing until next season.

Club Captain’s Report

Read the full report here. Highlights include:

  • The Porirua Goodwill Regatta was postponed. This will now be held on our Harbour on Saturday 26th November. Remember, you can find details of all regattas on rowit.nz, the platform used to track all regattas. Please come down and support eg buy food 🙂
  • Coaches Meeting – really important details for parents to read

We selected novices coaches, training day options and along with the Balance is Better recommendation, have appointed a Coach Development Manager to support and develop our coaches. More specifics will be sent via email to members and parents.

How we built the gym

Members have a new gym. Power plugs are now active (to recharge phones or a bluetooth speaker while training etc). We are working on getting more training gear. Access to the gym is part of a competitive and casual membership.
